Trust is a Choice
w/ Amenti MoveMeant
Tuesday, April 22nd
10:00am - 5:00pm

During this workshop, we will delve into the first layer of our method, the Layer of Physicality, concentrating specifically on the aspect of trust. Trust is essential for building relationships and fostering progress. Without a trustworthy relationship with ourselves and our bodies, we may manipulate our responses to avoid challenges related to our social and physical lives, such as food, intimacy, exercise, and protecting those around us.

Through a variety of exercises, both solo and with partners, we will explore our relationship with trust, examine the beliefs we hold, and understand how they were formed. We will focus on our ability to catch, carry, and support ourselves and others while enhancing our physical strength and grounding ourselves in our bodies. This workshop will also involve healthy risk-taking as we confront our fears. By overcoming challenges, we will demonstrate our capability, which in turn builds confidence. We will examine where we may be trying to maintain control, learn to surrender, and accept the unknown. This acceptance allows us to embrace the possibility of risk while still choosing to trust. As we begin to trust ourselves, we will find it easier to trust others, knowing that we can rely on ourselves, no matter what happens.

The Layer of Physicality is the first layer in our MoveMeant method and is associated with the element of Earth. It embodies our physicality and our inherent right to exist. This layer encompasses our ability to trust ourselves and others, carry and support ourselves and others, as well as elements of health and fitness, stability, and groundedness. The challenge within this layer is to confront and overcome fear. In MoveMeant and dance, this is expressed through significant whole-body movements, floor work, risk-taking, and a primal and grounded energy.

This bootcamp will be led by Gil the Grid, along with assistants. The workshop is open to all levels—jump in!

About the teacher
Amenti MoveMeant

Amenti MoveMeant is a community-based organization and a decolonial psyche-somatic MoveMeant medicine. The foundation of our Method and our way of working as a team lie in the pillars of the original hip-hop culture: peace, Love, Unity, Respect, Having Fun, and Self Knowledge.

Gil’ The Grid’ Gomes Leal, our organization’s founder and the Method we use, was a professional hip-hop dancer for years before developing our teachings. The Amenti MoveMeant Method is a way of becoming more self-aware through the use of the body. We see our human experience as a holistic system – consisting of the body, the mind, and the soul (or spirit).
