Supporting Our Neighbors: Open Donation for Sumatra Flood Victims
Our hearts are heavy with the news of the devastating floods striking the island of Sumatra. The scale of the crisis is immense, and we know many in our community feel a deep sense of shared sorrow. While we are here in Bali, our compassion extends across the islands to our fellow citizens and humanity facing this tremendous loss.
Here at The Yoga Barn, we believe that the practice of compassion must extend beyond the mat and into the world. When tragedy touches one part of our nation or our wider family, we are called to action. We have dedicated our space to serve as a central collection point for essential relief items, directly supporting the individuals and families deeply impacted by this crisis.
Scale of Crisis
The situation on the ground, particularly in the affected provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, is desperate. The numbers reveal the profound human impact:
- Nearly 970 lives have been lost.
- Over 250 people are still missing.
- 894,500 people have been displaced and are relying on temporary shelters for survival.

This is why immediate, tangible support is so crucial. We are calling on our incredible community to join us in this critical effort.
Urgent Needs: What You Can Offer
Your donation, big or small, is an act of love and solidarity that provides immediate relief to someone who has lost their home and belongings. We are prioritizing the most critical items requested by those working on the ground:
1. Men’s Clothing : While many donations focus on women and children, providing warm, dry clothes for the men in these displaced families is essential for their health, comfort, and well-being as they rebuild.
2. First Aid Kits : Essential for treating injuries, preventing infections, and managing basic health needs.
3. Dignity Kits : A vital provision for the health and privacy of women and girls, containing essential hygiene, health, and personal care items (like sanitary pads).
4. Hygiene Kits : Restoring a sense of cleanliness and well-being with basics like soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo.
Financial Contributions: If you are unable to drop off physical items, cash donations are also deeply appreciated. Monetary gifts offer flexibility, allowing relief teams to purchase exact supplies needed and respond quickly to the shifting demands of the situation.
When and Where to Drop Off
- Deadline: We will be collecting all items and monetary donations until Sunday, December 14th, 2025. Please ensure you bring your contributions before we close for the day.
- Location: You can easily find the designated collection box at The Yoga Barn Main Reception here in Ubud, Bali.
This is a time for our community to open our hearts and stand in solidarity with our neighbors. Let’s send a powerful message of hope and support.
