ECSTATIC DANCE UBUD
Ecstatic Dance is a global movement that has been active around the world since the mid 90’s, originally inspired by Gabrielle Roth’s 5Rhythms.
At the Yoga Barn, ecstatic dance is a weekly community gathering that takes place on Friday nights and Sunday mornings. Friday is more of an adults only vibe and Sundays is more family friendly, as the Garden Kafe serves a delicious vegetarian community buffet.
Each dance is facilitated by a different professional DJ who will hold a safe and sacred container for you, as s/he guides you on a journey through the music to where all can connect to a common source of ecstatic energy on the dance floor.

Each ecstatic dance at the Yoga Barn ends with a very special closing; either a delicate closing set or with sound healing or singing and chanting, and is followed by live music out on the deck, better known as “the Yoga Barn Sunday Sessions,” featuring an array of amazing local musicians.
Please note that on Sundays children under 12 are not permitted into ecstatic dance and, on Fridays, it’s best to remain 18+.
How to buy tickets to Ecstatic Dance
It’s important to know that Ecstatic Dance sells out very fast and it’s best to buy in advance, through the ticketing engine Megatix. You can also buy tickets the day of, by showing up 60 mins in advance and waiting online. Waiting online for ecstatic dance is a fun, fun experience, everyone is in a great mood.
There are two studios with limited capacity where you can dance. First is the upper level where the DJ plays, which sells out in advance very quickly and the lower Studio which is less expensive and caters to anyone who walks in or misses the opportunity to go upstairs.

Ecstatic Dance Age Limits: for safety & liability reasons, children under the age of 12 are not allowed to join Ecstatic Dance, as the dance floor is very crowded, and we don’t want any injuries.
That said, if you have children that you would like to bring with you while you dance, please make sure there is a caregiver looking after them, especially little ones….. The Yoga Barn staff is already very occupied and cannot look after children.

Guidelines
Always arrive 1 hour before dance to register and collect your wrist ticket. If you are already registered, we recommend you arrive 15 minutes prior to the start time. If you arrive after the published start time, you may be denied access and your booking will not be refunded.

ALWAYS ARRIVE 1 HOUR BEFORE DANCE TO REGISTER.
To make sure you get a ticket, book your online through MEGATIX, and then, come at least one hour early to register and collect your wrist ticket.
STUDIO CAPACITY/LIMITATIONS:
- Upstairs (capacity 170) – 170K
- Downstairs (capacity 100) – 100K
Those with tickets to dance downstairs will not be able to come upstairs, as capacity is FULL.
RESPECT the staff & each other.
NO TALKING in the studios, or on the upper deck (Talking allowed outside only)
NO PHONES! NO PHOTOGRAPHY & NO VIDEOGRAPHY. Leave your phones turned off & in your bags (exceptions are made only with permission from the management).
NO alcohol or altering substances permitted.
NO SHOES on the dance floor.
WEAR CLOTHES, this is not a Shibari party.
RESPECT PERSONAL BOUNDARIES, yours and others.
SWEATY? Bring a towel with you.
BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS, it takes two to tango.

Aggressive behavior will NOT BE TOLERATED, and you will be asked to leave if you violate any of the above Rules & Etiquette.

It’s best to wear loose, comfortable clothing or the same outfit you wear to a yoga class. When choosing your outfit, please be conscious that you are on an ecstatic dance floor in Ubud, Bali and not in night club or Shibari Party.
If you’re sweaty bring a towel, or rent one for IDR 40k at reception.

There is bottled coconut water for sale at Reception for each dance, please purchase as needed.
Our Garden Kafe has a freshly prepared Buffet Lunch on Sundays and is open until 10:00 pm every Friday for you to enjoy a pre-dance or post-dance meal.

There are Two Studios to dance in: Upstairs / Studio Nyoman & Downstairs / Studio Ketut. The upstairs studio has a maximum capacity. Once that capacity is reached, dancers will be relegated to the downstairs studio, where another 100 people can dance.
But, if you miss the pre-sales, just walk-in and pay at the Main Reception.
Each Friday & Sunday, in addition to Ecstatic Dance there is an amazing array of classes to choose from. Please check our online schedule for the current schedule to see if Ecstatic Dance has been removed/cancelled.
